week one - saturday post-trial - hiro

[Newt absconds pretty much as soon as the trial is over, given that he doesn't have a reason to stick around. They did it, hooray, etc. Someone's still dead and there's more to follow, and he just wants to get out of there.

After wandering around a bit to clear his head, he finds himself in the lab. Go figure, Hiro's already there.]

You really do just live in here, don't you?

[This time, at least, Hiro seems to be sketching out some bot designs instead of focusing solely on a monitor. He looks up at Newt with a small, unsure grin because is that a bad thing? It's probably not a bad thing. Newt's here a lot, too.]

Kinda have to with the bedrooms being gone. [There's a hostel, Hiro.] ...it's the only place that actually feels familiar. I like it here.

Man, I miss the bedrooms. I've been sleeping at the hostel, but I'm hoping we get better digs next week.

[Unlikely, but let him dream. Newt takes a seat next to Hiro to check out what he's working on.]

You know, I believed you when you said you were a smart kid, but it was cool to see it in action. You brought up some killer points during the trial.

No offense, but I'm kinda glad I didn't stay at the hostel after all. [That's definitely wishful thinking. What Newt will see when he sits down though is a sketch of some sort of bodysuit. Hm.]

You think so? [He sounds a little pleased because he's already decided Newt isn't such a terrible choice in company, and the validation's always welcome.] I've never had to do a trial before, but solving cases and stuff isn't that new.

It's all cleaned up now, though. That's, uh, better than the alternative.

[So they can just pretend it didn't happen yaaaaaaaay(?)]

So, what, are you a private eye or something?

Heh...yeah. [What if we don't talk about burned buildings and how leaving them would have sucked? Instead, Hiro latches onto the other subject and pauses to think.]

But sure, sort of. [...there's a high chance Newt's not going to believe him anyway, so shrug.] Guess you could say I'm a superhero? Our team protects the city and everything.

Oh. Sweet.

[It's not that Newt doesn't believe him, it's that he's not sure what "superhero" means in this context. Sounds cool, though.]

Never met a superhero before. Do you have a spunky alias and stuff?

I'm the only one without a nickname. [A beat.] Well, me and Baymax. But we're called the Big Hero 6. Fred came up with the name.

[It's very. Something.] It's sort of a new thing.

What? You should totally give yourself one. That sounds like the best part of being a superhero.

[It's probably not but for real name yourself, Hiro.]

Who's Baymax? Another robot?

[He's noticing a naming trend.]

Yeah, but "Superhiro" is pretty lame and that's the best I've come up with. [Granted, fanfiction about him says his name is Captain Cutie and he's definitely not about that either, thanks.

On the other hand, he grins and immediately perks up.]

Baymax is another robot, yeah. And kind of my best friend? He's way bigger than Mini-Max and he's capable of doing so much more...I kinda wonder why he didn't show up instead. [A beat.] He's a nursebot, so he's a healer. But with his gear he can fly and I taught him karate.

[arockstar]

[Okay but he's laughing at Superhiro, omg.]

Huh. If he's capable of all that, that's probably why he didn't show up. I don't imagine the gods would want to give us anything to alter the competition.

[He shrugs.]

All I got were my stupid glasses.

[Which. Being without them would suck, but also, shouldn't they count as clothes???]

Did you build Baymax?

[zerotohiro]

Probably not, but that doesn't mean anything. They still could have just downgraded him or something. [Most likely not, given Hiro would just upgrade him again.] ...glasses are important, but yeah, sounds like you got the short end of the stick on that one, dude.

[There's a pause.] ...I built him the second time, yeah. And I've been making most of his new chips for him so he can learn more skills and upgrade himself.
