week one - saturday post-trial - ava

[Newt absconds pretty much as soon as the trial is over, given that he doesn't have a reason to stick around. They did it, hooray, etc. Someone's still dead and there's more to follow, and he just wants to get out of there.

After wandering around a bit to clear his head, he finds himself in the lab. Ava's beat him here, though admittedly it takes him a moment to realize she's not just part of the scenery. Whoops, robo-racism.]

Oh, hey. I'm not interrupting anything, am I?

[She's holding her hands out to what looks like an induction plate when he enters, and she offers him a smile. It's tired and strained, but it's there.]

You aren't interrupting anything, no. I was just charging my batteries.

[More importantly...]

How are you feeling, Newt?

[arockstar]

[He smiles back. Whoever designed her really knew what they were doing. She's got a weird calming effect about her.]

I'm alright. Tired after all that, but I think we all are.

[He moves to lean against one of the workstations near her.]

Kind of wishing I could recharge like that too. Then again, sleeping is nice. Are you able to do anything like that? Shut down your brain for a while?

It was certainly taxing.

[She gives a small nod of her head to his question, glancing back at the induction plates for a moment.]

Yes. I can enter a state that's meant to function similarly to sleep, though of course I can't verify how similar it really feels.

Is it beneficial for you in the same way? For humans, it's obviously meant to recharge us, in a sense, but that'd be closer to what you're doing now.

[pipeline]

[She shakes her head, moving her hands away from the plates.]

No. I typically do not feel any different when I return from that state. But I'm glad for it here... It would be uninteresting if I had no way to spend time while the rest of you slept.

[Nice. That saves him from having to ask his followup question.]

I was gonna say, it'd be way boring around here without the downtime. Hey, what kind of stuff do you like to do? Is having fun part of your programming?

[It's a real question, but he's also sort of kidding.]
