[Newt isn't a massive fan of either wing this week, but the west is better than the east, in his opinion. He's standing by one of the bonfires and watching a couple of chickens peck around through the snow. What a weird choice in wildlife.

He glances up when Ray approaches. Oh, good, Newt's been meaning to talk to this guy a bit more.]

It's been a while since I've seen snow. I don't love the cold, but I guess the scenery's nice.

[Also: chickens.]

Neither one of those things sounds up Merriment's alley, but then again, I haven't talked to the guy much. Maybe a food shortage would count as a prank.

He's odd. Relatively nice, but not the kind of person you want to cross. Don't mess with Justice either, or he'll probably get mad.

So I've got no idea what to expect from him.

[Newt shoves his hands into his pockets. He should really raid the fort for some gloves...]

You've really made the rounds, huh?

Well, I'm missing a few, but otherwise, I guess so.

It's odd, I expected the numbers to change more drastically than they have this week. I figured everyone would've gone window shopping and chosen the god they actually liked best, as opposed to choosing at random from the three we got in that dream.

Some people might be afraid of burning bridges, depending on who their original god is. We can't all be like Chuuya and flip the proverbial bird at everyone.

Not to mention there's what Patience said at the trial—that if we vote for the wrong god, they'll pick someone among their followers. As much as it's about picking a god useful to you, it's also in your best interest to be liked by your god as well.

You're not wrong, but that'd be all the more reason to switch early if you're unhappy. It'd give you more time to get in good with your new god.

[He laughs at the mention of Chuuya, though.]

How honest do you think he's being about that whole mess? I'm tempted to believe he's just making the whole thing up to stir trouble.

Maybe. But he was talking to Patience about switching gods immediately on Friday, probably before he even had a chance to meet Disorder, and the math works out if he did switch, so there's a decent chance it's true.

[he shrugs.]

Disorder's playing the victim card and saying he exaggerated the whole thing to make her sound like a villain. To be honest, both of 'em seem pointlessly dramatic, so...

Well, he's screwed, then. Disorder sounds like a bad god to piss off.

[He also shrugs.]

Never met her, though. What's your take on her? Besides dramatic.

Hard to say. I was told she could be sweet when she wasn't feeling disrespected, so it wasn't completely jarring, but when I properly met her this week... she was doing everything she can to sweeten me on her. Probably in part 'cause she cursed me last week, so she knew I was going in with a bad impression.

I think she's concerned about her reputation getting worse, especially thanks to Chuuya denouncing her every chance he got last week.

She cursed you?

[He laughs. Probably not the coolest response, but clearly Ray's fine now, so.]

Honestly, I can't blame her. Everyone seems to be making judgment calls based on names alone, and Chuuya didn't help with that. I wonder why he hated her so much if he'd never even spoken to her. Seems odd for a poet to take things at face value like that.

Oh, they spoke. She apparently hates whichever god he defected to, which is how their argument started. She punched a hole in a mirror at one point during the conversation, according to him?

[He huffs out a breath.]

Sounds like a mess. I'd love to hear her side, honestly.

I don't know the details. Just that she was mad enough that she took it out on me, but hey, she apologized afterwards.

Uh. Took it out on you how?

The curse. Bad timing with my offering, and all.

[he groans.]

Nothing important. Just stupid and embarrassing—I got off light.

[He quirks an eyebrow.]

It'd be nice to know what kind of curses we're dealing with, though.
